Sports Park Update
Many changes have occurred to the Winnebago Sports Park over the past year thanks an OSLAD grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Bring your Tennis Racquets, Disc Golf Discs, Basketballs and Walking shoes and enjoy the Winnebago Sports Park. The latest project has been the Baseball field. The field was rotated and a grass infield was added. Two new Tennis courts surrounded by a 10 foot fence, a regulation size basketball court and a 9 hole Disc golf course in the Southeast section of the park have been added. The walking path winds through the Sports Park. Four times around the circle is 1.13 miles.
Working on a budget of about $100,000 in tax revenue per year, the park board is very dependent on grants, gifts, and volunteer labor. The Park District certainly appreciates the help and support received from the community past, present and future. If you have any questions comments or suggestions please don’t hesitate to contact a staff member or board member.
